Spend the day exploring Bumthang’s sacred sites, including ancient monasteries and temples linked to Guru Rinpoche and early Bhutanese Buddhism. The peaceful valley setting provides a meaningful context before attending the festival.

Attend the daytime celebrations of Jambay Lhakhang Drup, watching sacred masked dances (Cham) performed by monks in vibrant costumes. These ritual dances depict Buddhist teachings, deities, and historical legends believed to grant blessings and remove negative karma.

Witness the highlight of the festival with the famous Mewang fire blessing ceremony, where participants walk beneath a flaming arch for purification. Later, observe the dramatic Tercham naked dance, performed after midnight and believed to ensure fertility, protection, and prosperity. This night is considered one of the most powerful spiritual moments in Bhutanese festival culture.

Begin the return journey to Paro, retracing Bhutan’s central highways through mountain passes and valleys. Arrive in Paro by evening for rest and reflection.
